Have a question? Check our FAQs before getting in touch

  • To keep the pets in our care and our shelter team safe, our location is kept confidential. Unfortunately, abusers sometimes try to track down pets to regain control over victims, so privacy is essential. Our secure shelter provides pets with a safe space to heal, which is why we cannot accept volunteers or fostering. You can still make a huge difference by supporting us through events, fundraising, or sharing your skills.

  • Each pet arrives with a unique story and different needs, often shaped by trauma or sudden change. Because these needs vary and shift frequently, we are unable to accept all goods donations. Some essentials are kindly provided by our corporate partners, and to protect the safety, welfare, and well-being of pets, we only accept items that are needed. Please read more on our goods donations page to ensure your items can support our pets.

  • The Pet Refuge shelter is a vital first step for pets whose families are escaping family violence. Each spot provides safety for a pet, which can be a critical factor in a family’s ability to leave a dangerous, sometimes life-threatening situation. Due to high demand, we must prioritise this life-changing support and cannot operate as a general pet rescue or offer a rehoming service. We’ve been at capacity since opening, highlighting just how essential this service is for families in crisis.

  • Fundraising is a wonderful way to make a real difference for pets whose families are escaping family violence. Whether you organise an event, run a campaign, or use your skills to support our work, every effort helps provide safe shelter, care, and protection for pets in need. Visit our fundraising page to explore ideas, resources, and ways to get started – every contribution, big or small, helps change lives. Read more here →

  • Leaving a gift in your will is a powerful way to create a lasting legacy of love for pets affected by family violence. Just as Pet Refuge was founded with a legacy gift, your bequest can help us continue providing safe shelter, care, and protection for pets whose loved ones can’t. Learn more on our bequest page →
